SELVAGENS Is. DXPEDITION

GIRA - Grupo de Investigação de Radiocomunicações e Ambiente, announces that it will operate from AF-047 during IOTA Contest 2008, on the 26th and 27th July 2008.

With the authorization granted by the Madeira Natural Park and the transport facilities provided by the Portuguese Navy, it will be possible to participate on the IOTA Contest 2008 as DXpedition station, and also on the days before (24th and 25th July), providing the possibility of QSOs on the other bands than those from the IOTA Contest.

We will simultaneously operate two stations on the HF bands and also expect to operate on VHF (145MHz and 50Mhz), for activation of the Locator IM20bd.

We activate the references WLOTA - LH0692 and ARLHS MAD 011, for the Selvagem Grande Lighthouse.

We also activate the references DPRN-FF105 and WFF-CTFF34, for the Selvagens Islands Natural Reserve.

The departure from Oporto will be on the 23rd July and the return on the 29th.
